From Black to Blue: A Custom Solution for Manila's Rivers

Time of issue:

2025-11-12

mid growing global environmental awareness, we are proud to announce that the advanced wastewater treatment system designed and manufactured by YIMEI has officially shipped from the port of Qingdao, Shandong, and is en route to Manila, Philippines.

As an archipelago nation, the Philippines is endowed with abundant water resources. However, its ongoing economic growth towards 2025 brings inevitable water treatment challenges, including eutrophication, ecosystem degradation, and recurring public health concerns.

In response, the Philippine government has elevated environmental management to a national strategic priority, aiming to achieve an 80% domestic sewage treatment rate. Reaching this goal requires not only precise wastewater treatment solutions but also robust localized support.

With 28 years of experience in exporting wastewater treatment equipment, YIMEI is uniquely positioned to help. Our established network of project bases and service branches across the Philippines enables us to deliver efficient and reliable solutions for both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.

Project Background:
Severely Polluted Black and Odorous River Water
1. Color and odor: The water appears black or dark brown, while emitting an unpleasant odor, usually due to the accumulation and corruption of organic matter。

2. High organic content: dissolved organic matter, suspended organic matter, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) indicators are high, reflecting that the water has been seriously affected by organic pollutants。

3. Abnormal microbial indicators: the total number of bacteria, coliform and other microbial indicators exceed the standard, and there may be the reproduction of pathogenic bacteria, posing a threat to human and animal health。
Foundational Technologies of the Solution
Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)
Leveraging the advantages of both the activated sludge process and biofilm media, the MBBR technology features stably attached microorganisms. This enables the system to easily handle fluctuations in water quality and quantity, resulting in multiplied treatment efficiency and exceptionally stable operation.

Micro-nano Ozone Technology
This advanced technology utilizes sophisticated generators and dissolution systems to produce extremely fine ozone bubbles at the micro- or nano-scale. These minute bubbles remain in water for a significantly longer duration and greatly increase the contact surface area with pollutants.
High-Rate Sedimentation
It creates a highly concentrated suspended sludge layer, which acts like a "filtering layer" that rapidly captures and precipitates fine suspended solids and phosphorus from the water.
